The obviously fake photo was enough to spark the ire of Upton's legal team, who are said to have immediately sent a letter threatening to sue if the photo wasn't taken down promptly.

Not only were her lawyer's concerned that the photos featured her fake bosom, but that they were also airbrushed.

'One of these photographs has even been airbrushed,' TMZ reports the legal letter states.

The website that released the photoshopped images described the SI photoshoot as 'boring,'  and 'horrible.'

Since the letter was sent off, the website has removed the fake photos with the caption '*Photos removed by SI's lawyers enjoy the Kate Upton GIF above instead.'

A GIF of the blonde beauty rising from a pool replaced the controversial image..

This isn't the first time this website has made headlines for doctoring images of celebrities.
In 2011, an image was posted on the tabloid site of a blonde, topless woman laying upon a bed in blue underwear.
The photo was labelled 'Taylor Swift Topless Private Pic Leaked?', prompting Swift to fire off the same type of letter as Upton, demanding the photo be taken down.
According to TMZ, Swift claimed she was wrongly identified and threatened to sue the site for trademark infringement if the image wasn't taken down immediately.
